Community Foundations are one of the fastest growing and most dynamic networks dedicated to building and strengthening communities in many countries. What do Community Foundations do? Pool the charitable gifts of many donors into permanent, income-earning endowment funds that benefit local communities. Make grants from the earnings of these funds to support a wide range of local initiatives - from health, education and social services to arts, culture and the environment. Involvement in granting decisions and choices. The donor decides the specific Charities to receive income (after the fund is established). The donor is responsible for recommending which charities may receive income, subject to approval by the BCF Board of Directors. Recipients of support are determined through a review process involving BCF staff, the Board and experts in the field. Registered Charity No: 431. Charities Act, Cap. 243.
