bbonthebrink: March 2015
http://bbonthebrink.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Monday, 23 March 2015. Chilly mornings with the sun struggling to burst through hazy (polluted) skies. But when it does there are shadows. Beautiful, crisp shadows. A lamppost in Parc de la Turlure just behind the Sacré Coeur. Another lamppost on place Ravignan. Saint Patrick's day shadow bunting outside Corcoran's Sacré Cœur Irish pub. Le bateau Lavoir, Place Ravignan. And then moving out of our neighbourhood, a tree on the roof terrace of the Louis Vuitton Foundation. Links to this post. The French Kin...

bbonthebrink: November 2014
http://bbonthebrink.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 11 November 2014. For centuries a wooden bridge has crossed Lake Zürich at its narrowest point between Rapperswil and Hurden. Timber piles found on the lakebed indicate that there was some kind of crossing at this point that dates back to 1523BC. How such a precise date can be given is a mystery to me, but there you have it, this is what historians say! The wooden bridge was part of The Way of Saint James, a short cut across the lake that pilgrims took on their way to the Monastery in Einsiedeln.

bbonthebrink: Felice Varini at La Villette
http://bbonthebrink.blogspot.com/2015/05/felice-varini-at-la-villette.html
Thursday, 14 May 2015. Felice Varini at La Villette. This is the first one you see when you first enter the Paul-Delouvrier gallery. Fragmented. Blue picture frames. Fragmented. Complete (well almost . ahem). I was with my 10 year old son and he really enjoyed finding the right place to stand, though he was a little short to get it spot on all the time. For this one in the arcade of the east gallery of La Grande Halle,. However, he was able to. Maybe the huge scale if it allowed a bit of 'give'.

bbonthebrink: La Cité des Fusains
http://bbonthebrink.blogspot.com/2012/10/la-cite-des-fusains.html
Sunday, 14 October 2012. La Cité des Fusains. The Cité des Fusains, also known as the Villa des Fusains, is one of the most exquisite hidden delights I have ever come across in Paris. This is really saying something, given how crammed full of beautiful spots Paris is! I've been wanting to write a post about the Cité des Fusains for some time now but have been delaying writing it as I've been trying to find more historical information about the place. It seems, however, to be so secret that even the I...

bbonthebrink: Parisian Horses
http://bbonthebrink.blogspot.com/2012/03/parisian-horses.html
Saturday, 17 March 2012. A week in the mountains in Switzerland staying on a horse farm. Has left me contemplating horses. I know very little about them, but appreciate and am seduced by their beauty. For the first year of our daughter's schooling in Paris she went to a school on the Isle Saint Louis. This school was in the catchment area for the Garde Républicaine. And then there are bronze horses. This one is also on the Place de Concorde. I love its' wild mane blowing in the wind. This ceramic horse i...
