Valerie has supported “the underdog” in Ethiopia since the terrible drought and famine of 1973 when as a very young nurse she made a three month commitment, which has become a lifelong vocation. Why? In 2012 which recognizes an individual whose extraordinary service activities exemplify the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self.
