A Twig In Water: Monkey's Fist Tutorial
http://atwiginwater.blogspot.com/2013/07/monkeys-fist-tutorial.html
A Twig In Water. I am using this space as a home front for my ideas and tutorials. Wednesday, July 10, 2013. One of my students is very interested in knots. He was kind enough to help me make a tutorial of his Monkey's fist lanyard. While searching for interesting knots to tie,the monkey's fist appeared. After many attempts this is the easiest and fastest way I have found to do this. I tried this elusive knot many times and then stumbled upon the idea of making a jig to hold the golf ball while wrapping.

Mrs Crosbie: More POST IT drawings
http://mrs-crosbie.blogspot.com/2014/12/more-post-it-drawings.html
Wednesday, 3 December 2014. More POST IT drawings. We then started working with a number of post it notes with groups of curved lines like little rainbows or "nobows" as the children were calling them because of the lack of colour. Sometimes we added the post it notes to a larger piece of paper and extended the lines creating linear patterns and helping the children with their pen control and allowing them to express their own designs. Sometimes I find it hard to use anything else. Meet Me At Mikes :.

Mrs Crosbie: POST IT portraits
http://mrs-crosbie.blogspot.com/2014/12/post-it-portraits.html
Wednesday, 3 December 2014. It's not a new lesson I have seen it done before. But it really works so well and gives the children such confidence at a crucial time in their artistic and intellectual development . It still amazes me to think that these children have achieved such a high standard of draftsmanship at such a young age. Some fun was had with some of the spare pieces too! And some of the younger classes recreated another masterpiece, would Van Gogh have been proud too? View my complete profile.

Mrs Crosbie: November 2012
http://mrs-crosbie.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, 15 November 2012. Could you GET any more colour? Sometimes colour theory can be such a task. And Class teachers are soon expecting Christmasy or wintery stuff for the walls - too early! So I devised a colour wheel with a snow flake design. The class were given a folded 1/6 of a circle (yes more maths), and cut a simple snowflake segment. this was used as a template to draw a complete snowflake. (The children thought that they could reuse the template to make reindeer antlers.). These 6, 7 and 8...

Wednesday, 1 April 2015. THE CORBIE part II. THE CORBIE" part II. The Corbie, such a good poem and such a great subject. I love crow images, so full of life and movement. The children appreciate the sini. Ster qualities that the bird represents. It's also a great way to learn the words of the poem. The class then created a crow shaped stencil (tricky cutting) and using soft drawing pencils the scribbled through the opening. It is important that the pupils do not outline the shape of the crow but let ...

Wednesday, 5 December 2012. Mrs Crosbie's New Coat. Its not often that I get to draw with the infant department but when I do its such a treat. To try and get some of these pupils to add bodies, legs and hands to their figures I arrived in my shiny new coat and creeper boots! And this is what they made of me! I folded up the paper into three so the children were encouraged to see where the head, body and legs were to go, and we did each bit a stage at a time to give them confidence. Meet Me At Mikes :.
