Thursday, 29 January 2015. There's something immensely appealing about a shop that sells just one thing. Not just one thing as in food or clothes, but one thing as in hand-made shoes or buttons or the finest fountain pens. Beautifully displayed eggs in large wicker baskets, as though the farmer had plucked them from the straw that morning. Which he probably had. This little shop, fittingly located on Carrer del Cigne (Swan Street), may have the freshest eggs in town if the colour of the yolk is any guide.

Tuesday, 6 January 2015. Just when you thought Christmas was over. Ten Lords a-leaping in Via Laetana. They were also drumming. Last night the ten lords were still a-leaping. It was their final hurrah though. Along with the three kings, who arrived by boat to gather the last letters from children, the lords and maids, geese and drummers started to seriously party.
