From Barcelona: Part Time Work in Barcelona
http://www.frombarcelona.com/2010/06/part-time-work-in-barcelona.html
The city, the life and the people. Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Part Time Work in Barcelona. I don't know if it's like this in other countries, but finding part time work in Barcelona is probably harder than landing a full time gig. Part of this has to do with the current economic environment, but mostly it's because the concept of flexible, part time jobs based on hourly wages, doesn't really exist here. Available in many English pubs or on Loquo. As I wrote in an earlier post, becoming an autónomo. Personal...

From Barcelona: Barcelona Nightlife - Gambling The Night Away
http://www.frombarcelona.com/2011/09/barcelona-nightlife-gambling-night-away.html
The city, the life and the people. Monday, September 5, 2011. Barcelona Nightlife - Gambling The Night Away. Barcelona isn't Las Vegas or Monte Carlo which doesn't mean you can't test you luck and play games that might not make you rich, but could pay for a couple of drinks. Many bars and restaurants have slot machines, and in addition to that there is the famous Barcelona Casino near Port Olimpic. Unlike it's counter parts on the Vegas strip, there is no internet casino. Posted by Jeremy Holland. Subscr...

From Barcelona: Final Thoughts On Catalan Independence
http://www.frombarcelona.com/2010/01/final-thoughts-on-all-things-catalan.html
The city, the life and the people. Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Final Thoughts On Catalan Independence. One of my new year's resolutions was to avoid posting on any issue related to Catalunya vis-a-vis Spain and the politics of the relationship, but a recent article in the Economist. And some comments from a local author about my book made me decide to rant one last time before resuming the resolution for the Chinese new year. Should one just assume everyone walking the was born here and thus Catalan?

From Barcelona: Catalunya's Beaches & Barcelona Festival List
http://www.frombarcelona.com/2010/06/catalunyas-beaches.html
The city, the life and the people. Thursday, June 3, 2010. Catalunya's Beaches and Barcelona Festival List. The arrival of June has already seen the temperatures rise and the humidity start. With air-conditioning in short supply here, the best way to escape the heat is to pack the sunscreen and towel and head to the beach. In Barcelona there are three main places to layout and bake before hitting a chiringuito. Is a quaint little beach town that's perfect for a weekend out of the city. Which is just unde...

From Barcelona: Adéu Barcelona!
http://www.frombarcelona.com/2010/09/adeu-barcelona.html
The city, the life and the people. Wednesday, September 22, 2010. As some of you might know, I no longer call Barcelona home, having left in April for literally the greener pastures of Holland. It was a bittersweet decision because when I look back at all the places I've lived, Barcelona was the city I stayed in the longest - eight years! So, why did I leave? The whole nationalist debate. So, after six months away, is there anything I miss? Would I recommend Barcelona? Posted by Jeremy Holland. There are...

From Barcelona: Avoiding the Pickpockets
http://www.frombarcelona.com/2009/04/avoiding-pickpockets.html
The city, the life and the people. Monday, April 20, 2009. As I mentioned in my previous post. But I also want to take a minute to offer some suggestions on how not to get robbed, while also seeing some parts of the city and its surroundings that you probably wouldn't have otherwise. Times However, if you hop on the train at Plaza Catalunya and take it north for half an hour to las playas. You can find wider and more spacious beaches like Cabrera del Mar. From Barcelona: Book for a Rose
http://www.frombarcelona.com/p/book-for-rose.html
The city, the life and the people. Book for a Rose. The first rays of daylight lightened the sky outside, but the large window on the other side of the stairwell was caked with decades of dust. The narrow landing Johnny stood on was a shade brighter than his room. He pushed the glowing button to start the timed light so that he could see the keyhole to lock his door, as well as his feet, as he gingerly headed down four flights of stairs. The timed light cut, leaving them in the dim glow from the bulb in ...

From Barcelona: La Cervecita
http://www.frombarcelona.com/2010/02/la-cervecita.html
The city, the life and the people. Wednesday, February 24, 2010. As I mentioned last summer. There's been a bit of a Catalan renaissance when it comes to beers lately and I'm happy to say there have been some new additions to the market. Guineu brewed in Sitges offers the traditional three choices; lager, ale and stout. I only tried the lager and while not as strong as other local beers, it's got a refreshing clean taste. To find out, visit La Cervecita. Posted by Jeremy Holland. Senyor Jordi i El Drac.
