Tuesday, October 23, 2012. IMO) Top 6 reasons most cyclists are douchebags. Top 6 reasons most cyclists are douchebags. In no particular order. Reason 1 - Say "Hi" back you rude bastard. Reason 2 - Leg hair. Are you kidding me you shave your legs? There isn't a valid reason for this so don't try and make one up. It helps wounds heal? Reason 3 - Accessorize. Reason 4 - Gear Nazi's. Reason 5 - Cappuccino and a blueberry muffin. Reason 6 - I was only cheating because everyone else was.

Sunday, May 4, 2014. As unaccustomed as I am to speaking. I'm a huge fan of this event and greatly appreciate all the hard work that the team at Total Sport do to put it on each year. Honored and privileged to be invited back to defend my title, thanks as always to Aaron, Nic, Cam' and the team. The volunteers and marshals, Allan Ure. DJ-random-moment-Jono and of course the hard working team behind the bar at the Park travelers lodge. Muir doesn't even touch the ground. Rot eventually seeped in and I lif...

EveryDayRunner: Where to next?
http://runstreak.blogspot.com/2014/04/where-to-next.html
Tuesday, April 1, 2014. I'm not dead yet so I should crack-on and try to cobble together a reasonable club-season and since I have some annual trail races coming up it's probably best I get a proper plan together. Club running is fun. I can't wait to feel this good again. The next target event is the T42. 30km easy inc hill efforts. 80min hard hill and trail. 45min easy (St Peters). 2x 15min @T Pace. (full rec). 30km easy inc hill efforts. 80min hard hill and trail. 14x Hill Repeats (St Peters). I've pic...

EveryDayRunner: March 2014

Saturday, March 29, 2014. People keep telling me I have a book in me. Despite countless x-rays it's never shown up and I certainly don't recall inserting one. More likely I'm full of tall stories and bullshit and since I have a terrible memory I should probably take note of the occasional tale least I forget it. Truck assuming I wouldn't miss them. Heh. And I detoured to take in first Moerangi Hut then Rogers Hut. We were moving slowly which I thought best given the long day we had ahead. T. Leaving the ...

There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says, ‘Morning boys. How’s the water? And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, ‘What the hell is water? There is also that con...

Sunday, May 6, 2012. After an acceptable run at the Nugget. In mid April I thought I should set myself a slightly more lofty race target and began drawing up plans for Total Sport. Trail marathon. There was only 2 weeks separating The Nugget and the T42 so I wasn't going to be able to pile on any base and even sharpening would be in short supply before the honest taper required in the days prior to a marathon race. It opened up my mind, I saw the sign. Monday - 90 minutes moderate hilly (approx 3:40 pace).

Monday, February 23, 2015. The Tarawera Ultra Everywhere Man. Warning - this race report contains nuts! All of the characters are real but my belief in myself is entirely make believe! Also, words: some of them are big, wrong or out of order, others may offend. Or not. Enjoy! Much can be said about the 3 day lead up to the 7th Tarawera Ultra. Best perhaps captured by the word busy repeated 3 times thusly - busy busy busy. Aussie sausage-fest at the Thursday night 'secret spot' candle-light romance. I con...
