Because you also have a neck that is really tired of supporting your head for hours while you look down at your books. (Random factoid: the human head weighs about as much as a bowling ball). I bought mine a couple of years ago at the Container Store. Didn't see it on their web site today, but did find this option:. I have the 14" version, but the 18" might be even better.
