Barge holidays in France. Monday, 29 December 2008. A few days (and much cutting, grinding and welding) later we were the owners of a seriously snazzy looking crane at the rear of the stern deck. Despite our fears that the weight might disrupt the balance of the boat, our engineers had done us proud and some judiciously placed extra ballast ensured the 'trim' of the boat was not overly not affected by the weight of the crane.
