The Land of a Thousand Handshakes. Bario rice (small grain) is renowned for its texture and flavour. Grown locally in wet paddy fields throughout the Bario valley it is one of the main crops produced here. The primary jungle around Bario is teaming with flora and fauna (including the famous Rafflesia pictured here), jungle birds, and wild animals such as wild boar, honey bears and mouse deer. The hills throughout the area also support wild orchids. Bario Highlands is also famous for its pineapples!
