Thursday, July 31, 2014. This is what our July consisted of:. Swimming lessons for Ruby and Charlie and one lesson for Emma. She loves the water and the kids' teacher thinks that she may be a swimmer by the end of the summer if we keep working with her! We had a quiet Fourth of July- swimming lessons in the morning, relaxing afternoon with some bottle rockets and then to the beach to visit Nienhuis', and dinner and fireworks with the Bakkers in the evening. It was a gorgeous day! Man I love those kiddos!

The reminder that we are poor but privileged. To remember at every meal. We have three opportunities to remember the body and the blood. That while we are sinners, we have redemption. No shame but righteousness. No gluttony but remembrance. Fourth, it was me. choking? God, what are you trying to tell me through this? Do I give into temptations?

We just got back from my grandpa Walters 80th Birthday Party. It's amazing to think of all that he has been through in the 80 years. He received a card of things that happened in 1929 - the year he was born. 1929 was when the great depression started, houses where sold for $7,000 and a yearly income was $1800. Oh how the time has changed! We miss you guys!

It was great to see the students' faces in the building and get reacquainted with them after the long summer break! It is good to work with other staff members here at Western, but to be honest, it's working with high school kids that makes this job as much fun as it is.
