Fish for Breakfast: August 2014
http://fishforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 13, 2014. I set myself the goal of catching up, and catch up I will! Anyway, all this is to say that spring lingered, summer started mild, and we had some good times outside. Incidentally, those are Jacob's first shoes in the pictures above. Aren't they super-cute? A girl's gotta have priorities, right? Retro pictures for everyone:. You wanted an update on the roses I planted outside our bedroom window (my first Mother's Day present)? And then Natalie and I went on a date! We went to he...

Fish for Breakfast: Family News!
http://fishforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2014/04/family-news.html
Thursday, April 24, 2014. Two big events in the month of April: Jacob started walking and Mike got tenure. We'll leave you to decide the relative long-term importance of each. We are very happy. No video of the tenure (although there is a letter, complete with signatures in purple ink, natch), but here's Jacob walking. You'll, uh, want to turn down the volume on this one, as Natalie is yowling in the background about some not-entirely-urgent injury. Here are the champions themselves:. To compensate for m...

Fish for Breakfast: March 2014
http://fishforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 12, 2014. We've been attending a lot of birthday parties the last month or so. I have pictures from those and from, well, just living our lives. Here's Natalie at a party at a roller skating rink. The kids could roller skate, but they were also welcome to bring and ride anything with wheels. Jacob also got invited to a birthday party - his first invitation! It was for a girl in his class, and it was Mickey Mouse-themed. Mickey was, um, not a big hit. To put it mildly. Oh, you know: milk!

Fish for Breakfast: November 2013
http://fishforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 24, 2013. We're always up for holidays here. First, before we move forward, a few last pics from Halloween:. Inspired, perhaps, by her teeth, Natalie drew this picture of a "vampire who makes bad choices and needs to go think about his bad choices." So there's that. But, I mean, Natalie's plenty cuddly! Also, my mom knit me that robe! Also, here's Big Boy, showing off his latest trick:. Here's Jacob in his little leisure suit. Jacob pretty much lives the leisure lifestyle. No better time...

Fish for Breakfast: March 2013
http://fishforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 18, 2013. Big Boy turned two months old last week! We marked the occasion by going to the pediatrician. According to their measurements, he's 10lbs, 13oz, and is 23 inches long. Also, perfect. But, then again, you knew that, right? He's smiling more and even starting to coo some. Actually, here's are some big old grins, but the photo quality is somewhat poor! He still has his serious moments, though. Is there anything else? It was Jacob's first hike! We also had Natalie's. Coaching someone ...

Fish for Breakfast: Ritsumeikan 2014
http://fishforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2014/08/ritsumeikan-2014.html
Friday, August 08, 2014. I have been collaborating on a project about Japanese elections with a scholar. The trip lasted 11 days, which was a long time to be away from Kate and the kids, but I had not been to Japan since 2009, and it was nice to be back. Here is a picture of me with Michiya and his family:. Michiya and I did a few interviews on the trip. Here is a picture of us with the head of the Kyoto Branch of the Democratic Party of Japan, who we had just interviewed:. I like the name of this cafe:.

Fish for Breakfast: October 2013
http://fishforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 28, 2013. Or maybe I should call this post "October Snapshots," since I fear this might be a bit of a photo-dump post. But, well, no time like the present, right? First, we've officially become one of those annoying homes that has a lawn flag. Worse, we fly a sporting-themed lawn flag. Suburban cliches, you slay me. With your cuteness. The friends go to school. As regards their listening, they spend a fair amount of time in time-out. Would be a better exercise activity for us? We also wen...
