There being insuficient members to form a viable committee a small working party is planning an annual event in the hope of reaching the centenary. The Origins of our Society. In the early 1990s an up-dated Constitution was enacted, officially setting out the democratic structure of the Society, and recognising that it's interests had widened to include historical matters, musical subjects, and environmental issues. Welcome to the Barmouth Literary and Debating Society. Following the success of our 2015 event we have again secured the services of Pete Churchill for a presentation in 2016. The date for your diary is Thursday 8th September. Full details in due course. The society used to meet weekly in the winter at The Dragon Theatre Community Centre. However by the end of the 2012/13 season the numbers had fallen to the point where the committee felt a change was needed.

The remaining funds held by the Society were split between two local charities:. The Barmouth Food Bank;. The Wales Air Ambulance;.
