Friday, 24 August 2007. Get me out of here. We have been watching people cycle up and down the beach for the last couple of weeks and have been meaning to hire bikes to do the same since we got here. Today was to be the day. Appropriately dressed and with sunscreen diligently applied we turned up at the bike hire shop and 20 minutes later the four of us were cycling (Ok J was in a child seat, she's grown but not that much) out of Mission Beach. Monday, 27 August 2007. More beach and more ice cream to report, so no news - the only real addition is a postscript to the cycling story. We returned the bikes to the bike shop and D informed the guy who had hired us the bikes that on the rainforest trail he had recommended two bridges were out of commission (closed for safety reasons), probably since he last went along the trail. His response came as no real surprise "Oh no, I've never been along that trail, so I don't know what it is like".

Saturday, 28 July 2007. Returning to the theme of names, Cable Beach got its name from a telecommunications cable that runs from Broome to Java. So named pretty recently. By 10am we had put it to four other uses. Running, riding camels, swimming and surfing. Here are the pictures.
