Recently – on a gusty and windy day – I observed many boats with roller furling jib sails showing their jib and forestays sagging significantly each time a gust of wind hit the boat. The jib and forestay would sag to leeward four to six inches and more. Any sag more than a couple inches causes the jib to become increasingly inefficient.

Books I am currently reading (updated May 11, 2016). Saturday, November 14, 2015. The leaves are falling! The leaf of a sassafras. Fall is definitively here. It always seems to hit hard in November (see my post from around this time last year. Leaf on his lawn, just to tease him. Boy, we were mean in our younger years. But leaves are important. As I mentioned, they recycle nutrients and organic matter, but they also are the home to a lot of insects and other critters. It is a lot of fun to see towhees.
