The Bella Agua Family. The Cat and Man. The History of Barnburgh and Harlington. The History of Harlington. Harlington lies in the parish of Barnburgh and is of 'Anglo-Saxon' origin. Its name could derive from the land owner 'Walter De Harlington'. Or from Anglo-Saxon terms. 'ton' means fenced abode, whilst 'ling' means a pasture and 'Har' meant either a contraction of either the name of the pasture or the land owner. Over the years it has passed through various hands as part of the Manor of Barnburgh.

The Bella Agua Family. The Cat and Man. Saint John the Baptist Adwick U.Dearne. The simple pebble-dashed exterior of St. Johns, Adwick hides a very old structure. The church is Norman, consisting of Chancel, Nave and Bellcote. The Bellcote appears to be Norman making it a very rare example in Britain. The South door is also Norman. Several windows are late 13th century lancets (some with twin lights and Y tracery) and the Chancel Arch also appears 13th century. The church is recorded in Joseph Hunters.

Our Community – Music, Singing and Supporting Together. Welcome to our website, Barnburgh Village Singers is a female voice choir based in South Yorkshire. We are a four part ladies choir, founded in the summer of 2002 by our conductor, Julia Bullars, and now have around forty members, including our pianist.
