York, Dewsbury, London - going for it big style

York, Dewsbury, London - going for it big style. Wednesday, May 05, 2010. John Carr 5k tonight after a full 56 hours recovery since the last race. Thought on the startline that there were too many good V40s for me to feature in the podium positions. As I went through the race, moving past people who finished 2 minutes behind me I moved up through the gears in the normal way - 1st, 2nd, 3rd but hey - who's taken my 4th and 5th gears? York, Dewsbury, London - going for it big style: A mixed week - mileage a worry

http://www.barnsleyrunner.blogspot.com/2004/11/mixed-week-mileage-worry.html

York, Dewsbury, London - going for it big style. Sunday, November 21, 2004. A mixed week - mileage a worry. 75 miles put in this week. The work session on Friday had to be cut short as I was running late. 5 x 500m in 96 secs ad 8 x 1200m in 84 secs per lap was the order, but I found it a real struggle to hit those paces. Still trying to get those FT fibres up and running after a year off! After that race it's 4 clear weeks training where I aim to hit not below 90mpw and over 100 if I can.

York, Dewsbury, London - going for it big style: November 2004

http://www.barnsleyrunner.blogspot.com/2004_11_01_archive.html

York, Dewsbury, London - going for it big style. Monday, November 29, 2004. A disappointing Leeds Abbey Dash. 28th November saw the return to the course which holds my pb (33:41) from 2003. After posting 34:50 on an undulating Barnsley 10k 2 weeks ago whilst being race director, I was looking at sub 34 as standard. However, despite beating some of the usual suspects by a fair margin and putting everything I could into the race, I clocked just under 34:20 (waiting for chip time). Sunday, November 21, 2004.

York, Dewsbury, London - going for it big style: On the improvement curve.

http://www.barnsleyrunner.blogspot.com/2005/01/on-improvement-curve.html

York, Dewsbury, London - going for it big style. Friday, January 14, 2005. On the improvement curve. The week after my last post was a bit difficult - tummy bug meant I couldn't hold onto carbs. I bonked badly on 2 easy runs with clubmates and only raced on the Sunday as I needed the points for our club league:-). Since then I've put in a good 4 x 1200 session followed by 5k @ 165-170 HR. I've sorted out a few dietary issues and really believe this year will be my year. Posted by John Broom @ 1:14 PM.

FLM 2005: End of the Line for Me :o(

http://xfr-bear.blogspot.com/2005/02/end-of-line-for-me-o.html

Friday, February 25, 2005. End of the Line for Me :o(. Physio visit. Knee has been niggling for too long, and hampered my training. Well - the good news is that we thing we've identified the problem and I've got stuff to do for it, and had some massage and ultrasound. The bad news is that there's no way I'm going to be okay to run and be able to build up the mileage in time for April 17th. Okay - I may limp round, but what's the point? Posted by XFR Bear @ 4:11 pm. At 26 February 2005 at 11:59. Sorry to ...

FLM 2005: Hmmmm.....

http://xfr-bear.blogspot.com/2005/02/hmmmm.html

Saturday, February 05, 2005. Well - the usual Average HR, but about 5 mins slower than I was at. The first half of the run was dire, but the second half picked up for some unknown reason. There were lots of walk breaks at points where normally I could BT with no probs :o(. Worse though, was the fact that the knee was twingeing badly. Not impossibly so, but I fear it will continue to play up and I may have to defer :o(. Posted by XFR Bear @ 12:24 pm. At 7 February 2005 at 13:16. Leon - Aim High! Getting t...

FLM 2005: More Base, less Speed!

http://xfr-bear.blogspot.com/2005/01/more-base-less-speed.html

Tuesday, January 11, 2005. More Base, less Speed! My usual 6 mile route up Northey Avenue. I really didn't get the pace right today, starting off too quickly and somehow not quite managing to stay under my target well enough. It was only a few BPM difference, but it did mean I kept having to walk. Was it tiredness, too much coffee, a lurking lurgy, or what? Just need to get some more stats to go into it! Watch this space :o). Posted by XFR Bear @ 10:02 pm. View my complete profile.

FLM 2005: Probably Shouldn't Have Run

http://xfr-bear.blogspot.com/2005/01/probably-shouldnt-have-run.html

Tuesday, January 25, 2005. Probably Shouldn't Have Run. I've had the lurgy for the past week or so, and although a bit gunky still, I really felt like a run tonight. I did doubt whether I should somehow, ass my HR standing at the door was over 90, whereas normally it is around 72 before I set off. Anyhoo - I quickly realised this wasn't going to be a run where my HR stayed down. I soon got to the double beep that told me I was above the zone, and I was deliberately being careful to take it easy!

http://xfr-bear.blogspot.com/2005_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 30, 2005. My Knee has Broken, Like the First Morning. Bad news - my left knee seems crocked :o(. Which means lots of rest. I think it's the bursa just below the knee on the inside. It's not impossible to run with, but I figure I'll just make it worse if I do. I haven't done a long run with a couple of weeks with the lurgy, so this is a bad thing. Posted by XFR Bear @ 3:21 pm. FLM 2005: Now I Know What a Slice of Lemon Feels Like

http://xfr-bear.blogspot.com/2005/01/now-i-know-what-slice-of-lemon-feels.html

Sunday, January 09, 2005. Now I Know What a Slice of Lemon Feels Like. Distance: 13.5 miles. Add to that I had some twinges from the Saturday BodyPump class, and was feeling really sluggish for some reason, and it all made for not a good day to run! Still - I did it, and I'm glad I did too, as it's the longest run so far this campaign, and until the last couple of miles actually felt pretty good. After about eleven pretty comfortable miles, my legs started to feel tired (fair enough really! Today the leg...

FLM 2005: The Twilight Zone?

http://xfr-bear.blogspot.com/2005/01/twilight-zone.html

Friday, January 14, 2005. Great run - everything went smoothly, with barely any walk breaks - even on the steepest hills. Even when I did need to stop, it was just for 20 seconds walking before the HR dropped again. BT index = 10000/(pace per mile x average heart rate). Here the pace per mile was around 9:07, or about 9.1 mins/mile, so we have. BT index = 10000/(9.1 x 139) = 7.91. Not sure what name I should give these! Posted by XFR Bear @ 4:53 pm.
