Friends of RV Mission. Despite the availability of effective treatment the WHO think leprosy has been increasing steadily. Global statistics ( WHO 2006 ). Africa – 40,830 America – 32,994 South East Asia – 133,422 Middle East – 4,024 Western Pacific – 8,646 Brazil – 79,908 Mozambique – 6,810 Nepal – 7,549 Tanzania – 5,420.
