Edible landscapes, supplying local and foraged food. A quick search of “why apple orchards are disappearing,” says nothing of the influence of supermarkets monopolising our food supply. Posted by eat my garden. Http:/ barryshug.co.uk. Create a free website or blog at WordPress.com.

Edible landscapes, supplying local and foraged food. From raymond bush, a fruit grower’s diary. Entry for feb. 16 1935. “what fruit grower’s need for pollenizing is fine weather and the bees can go hang, ther are many other pollenizers and the best are small beetles which live in the apple blossoms.” so much for carring about bees disappearing. Edible landscapes, supplying local and foraged food. Supermarkets are amazing don’t you think? Amongst other things, they have made possible the transport of food hundreds sometimes thousands of miles, the reliance of cars a given and streamlined the choice of vegetables and fruit and done away with the seasons. where would you start faced with the choice of 2000 apple varieties? My local (in)sainsburys stocks the same apple variety all year round. all year. amazing. love it. Posted by eat my garden.
