The site at Barstobrick has been inhabited for over1500 years when an ancient Iron Age Hill Fort was built on Barstobrick Hill. The Hill now boasts Neilson’s Monument, erected in 1883 to commemorate the life of James Beaumont Neilson an inventor whose hot blast process helped improve the practice of smelting iron. Garden Barstobrick Visitor Centre

Work has just started on the walled garden which is next to the three star holiday accommodation. Half of this project will involve restoring the garden to its Victorian splendour with a newly constructed garden room as its focal point. At the opposite end we’re keeping the luxurious lawn where we can put up our new marquee.
