Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Chemise a la Reine Pt. II. The difference is that I"m wearing stays. And the sash is a much wider ribbon. Everything else is the same. Oh, and I made a chatelaine. I'm not sure exactly how period correct it is (probably not very much so), but it went with the general idea, looked pretty, and I'm pretty sure the visitors at the event had no idea :P. Our First Revolutionary War Outfits. Jackets are made using the JP Ryan pattern. For petticoats and aprons we drafted our own patterns. Neckerchiefs are made with no pattern. Caps are made from the Carolina Stitches In Time pattern, which is sadly out of print. :( Stays are made from the full boned strapless stay pattern from JP Ryan. Monday, July 28, 2014. Truly Victorian's Edwardian Hip Pad. Note here: I added eyelet trim, this was not mentioned at all on the instructions. Basically you could just sew the pad and omit the trim. I just thought it would be cute. Pick your size (check the pattern envelope). Cut out two of your pattern. If you are adding trim, pin it down to the right side of ONE of your peices. Pin both sides of hip pad, right sides together, trim on inside. Trim and clip curve. I stitched bias tape over the raw edges.

Saturday, May 24, 2014. Despite this fabric's tendency to get horribly, uncleanably stained, I really do love it. And that's why I took apart my 1840s dress to use the skirt for something that I would actually, you know, wear once in a while. I like that this picture makes me look a lil' bit like Laura Linney as Abigail Adams. Once again, as I can't seem to grasp the schematics of hooks and eyes on a 1770s dress, this one closes with pins. Which probably explains the occasional and grotesque wrinkles.
