Basically Quilting: Safety First!
http://basicallyquilting.blogspot.com/2008/11/safety-first.html
Wednesday, November 12, 2008. A rotary cutter is basically a razor sharp round blade placed on a handle, much like a pizza cutter. However, it is immensely sharper than a pizza cutter! Another quilter, piled all her quilting supplies on her mat and was carrying them to the other room, and the rotary cutter slipped off the mat and hit her on the top of her foot. The impact pushed the blade guard back and the blade sliced her foot. The result was a trip to the ER! I always close the blade.tee hee.
Basically Quilting: Quilting a Quarter Inch at a Time
http://basicallyquilting.blogspot.com/2008/11/quilting-quarter-inch-at-time.html
Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Quilting a Quarter Inch at a Time. It is much easier to keep an accurate 1/4 inch seam when you sew watching your fabric move under the edge of the presser foot, and much more difficult to keep the edge of the fabric along the lines on your needle plate. Because the quarter inch mark on the throat plate/needle plate is usually just inside the edge of the right feed dog. Get your smallest rotary ruler because it will be easier to manuever, but you can use the larger one if needed.

Wednesday, November 5, 2008. Sounds like I'm collecting money for quilters! Nope, it's just that quilters think in quarters! So when shopping for your Quarter Inch foot, check it out to see if it has any Notches on it! Love all the info here. lots of good stuff. When my machinery is giving me agita, can I just CALL you? Basically Quilting: Walking Foot
http://basicallyquilting.blogspot.com/2008/11/walking-foot.html
Saturday, November 8, 2008. I guess I'll stay with the presser feet theme a little longer, if you can stand it! Another presser foot that I think is a MUST for quilters is . . . the Walking Foot! If you've never heard of that, you're thinking WHA? A Little Explanation: The feed dog on your machine pull the fabric through the machine. Right? Also, you can use the walking foot to quilt the top! A walking foot is a very good thing to have in your quilter's bag of tricks! Stitch in the ditch.
Basically Quilting: Rotary Cutting continued
http://basicallyquilting.blogspot.com/2008/11/rotary-cutting-continued.html
Saturday, November 15, 2008. Along with a rotary cutter you are going to want to invest in a "self-healing" rotary mat and a ruler made to be used with Rotary Cutters. When rotary cutters first came on the market, quilters/sewers were using metal type architectural rulers with them. Imagine less than and 1/8" edge to guide the rotary blade down the ruler! It's amazing that so many quilters from that era still have their finger intact! Will you be doing multiple layers of fabrics? Make sure you note YOUR ...

Dreaming of Quilts: November 2008
http://dreamingofquilts.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 29, 2008. That little French lesson was from Josh. He spent 2 years in the province of Quebec, CANADA and even joined a quilt guild for a bit while he was there. So he learned quite a bit about quilting. Actually more than my daughters! I know I've been negligent. About keeping up with my blog, but I hope to get back on it as soon as Thanksgiving has blown over. Thursday, November 27, 2008. I will now teach you how to say quilt in french. Courtepoint! Now how to say I love Quilting!
Drean Machine: July 2009
http://dreanmachine.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Ramblings about the family Drean. Friday, July 24, 2009. Hudson and Landon's Birthday. Hudson and Landon agreed that we should go bowling for their birthday and since Hilltop Lanes was closed down, we went to FatCats in Ogden. It's a bit flashy compared to Hilltop, but we did get pizza to appease their appetites. The big boys are trying to corrupt my innocent 4 year old with video games. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Actually it was Black Mold, so they brought in their HazMat set up. Oh goodie! Friday, December 25, 2009. Bob really enjoyed messing with us this Christmas, usually he gets out a garbage bag and keeps it right beside his chair and everyone has to throw their wrapping paper away right after opening their prese...

Ramblings about the family Drean. Friday, April 16, 2010. Life revolves around dances. . . The bad thing about the way I blog is that I forget alot of the "daily" happenings and so I go by the pictures on my computer. . . That means we live from High School Dance to High School Dance. Right? So here are pictures of Morgan and her date, Tony, heading out to Prom. Good thing she had a dress that we found on sale hanging in her closet because this was a last minute asking. . . oh those Boys!

Cedar Bench Quilting Club. Monday, December 1, 2008. Let’s try and get together on Thursday and Friday this week for our 1st Machine Quilting Class. Cedar Bench Quilting Club: Another Class Down!
http://cbquilting.blogspot.com/2008/10/another-class-down.html
Cedar Bench Quilting Club. Monday, October 27, 2008. Well, we had lots of fun on Thursday (23rd). We missed those who had to be to Stake Leadership, but those who came learned to use a rotary cutter and we cut strips and decided on layouts. We meet again this Thursday (30th). Bring what you've completed and we'll go from there. You don't need to bring your rotary mat (I have enough! Rotary Cutter and rulers. We used a digital camera to decide which way they wanted to place their strips!

Cedar Bench Quilting Club. Friday, October 31, 2008. We have been making progress on our quilts. One group met Thursday night and one group on Friday morning. We're kind of getting mixed back and forth on our groups and everyone is progressing at different levels. So it's KINDA Crazy! But I think we're having fun. We keep taking pictures of everyone's quilt strips, but I forget to take pictures of the quilters having FUN! I'll try to do better. Thursday: Nov. 6th; 7 PM; Lauri's house. Email me if you did...

Drean Machine: June 2010
http://dreanmachine.blogspot.com/2010/06/june-2010.html
Ramblings about the family Drean. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Patrik said good-bye to Cheerleading. . . Bob and I got to travel to Boston. We did something we've never done in our many trips to Boston. This time we took a ferry over to Martha's Vineyard. . . It was the off season and we were invited in with the skipper and they told us all about their trips back and forth, sand bars, shark sightings, taking famous people to the island and such. . . It was fun. A house on the Boston side. . .

Friday, April 18, 2014. The Dragon is Complete! Wow, its been a long time since I posted anything. Somehow I find it hard to take the time to be still long enough to write. I would much rather be living my life, quilting, reading, socializing. In January 2014 I made a resolution to quilt a dragon wall-hanging that I have been promising John. At thirty-inches wide and six-feet tall this dragon is no small thing! Much money on a sewing machine" or "Don't you have enough fabric? So began the process. Th...
