Sunday, September 22, 2013. Companions and "Bosom Friends". A person with whom one spends a lot of time or with whom one travels. A person who shares the experiences of another, esp. when these are unpleasant or unwelcome. One of a pair of things intended to complement or match each other. 8220; Thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again with warm hearts and friendly hands. 8221; (D&C 121:9). Anne Shirley, wandering and "taking it all in" as she would say. Do I need this? In a General C...

Friday, February 14, 2014. Valentines Day: Love and Let Love. There are only a few days a years when I know exactly what day it is based on the Facebook Statuses that are posted. Today has been one of those days. My news feed has been barraged by dozens of comments about this holiday that brings out the best and worst in people. Valentine’s Day: The Day of Love. 8221; And what of all these comments attacking the idea of celebrating something so pure? This is what we're all looking for, right? According t...

Sunday, July 7, 2013. Recent remarks by Pope Francis have caused quite a stir. Summarized the essence of this message, saying “Atheists are good if they do good.” But the Pope’s remarks actually went much further. According to Vatican Radio. Pope Francis stated, “The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! 8216;Father, the atheists? 8217; Even the atheists.”. Correcting this recent pronouncement. 8220;Father, the atheists? Setting aside q...

Monday, May 4, 2015. Prayer: Recognizing His Hand - Part 3. I’m going to continue on with this theme of prayer. Soon after beginning the first post about prayer, I realized that there were multiple areas I wanted to address. Two of them I was able to get underway rather quickly, but two seemed to just sit in my ideas folder. I had some things I wanted to say, but didn’t yet feel ready to address them; something was missing. And while you’re at it; you can check out the second part here. I unknowingly fou...

Wednesday, April 2, 2014. The Nights of Darkness. 8220;My Own Jesus,. In all honesty, it hurts me just to read these words. While I am filled with admiration of the woman who was so willing to set aside her comfort and joy to please Christ, I am at the same time I ache as I feel her pain and suffering. While I cannot understand perfectly the pain she feels, I have had dark moments that have led me to similar places of darkness and separation. I know I was surprised. However, Sister Cavanaugh brought to m...

Thursday, May 23, 2013. Another Way To Be. Music has been a defining part of who I am. It has been a protection and safe escape. Music has allowed me to communicate the feelings of my heart and soul into words and emotion. Music has taken me to the ends of the world and often beyond. I feel that music is among the greatest things that God has given us. Again, finding the bad seems to be the path of least resistance. I began to try and better understand the Catholic Church, starting at the uppermost p...

Saturday, February 21, 2015. Prayer: Dialogue with the Divine - Part 2. In my last post. I began to address some of my thoughts on prayer. About a year ago I was going through a particularly frustrating phase in my life. I went out with a friend one evening and began to vent about my many frustrations. After patiently listening to my rant for about 30 minutes, he calmly asked me a question:. 8220;Hey Lee, how are prayers? What did my prayers have to do with anything? I don’t know if the words above...

Friday, January 31, 2014. Love and Let Love, Help and Let Help, Serve and Let Serve. Love and let love. As I began to study it out in the scriptures, I quickly realized that this "I won't let you help me because I refuse to be a burden" mentality predates the restored church. While there are many examples of this throughout the scriptures, there is one in particular that helped me to see with a more celestial or spiritual perspective. 12th Century Depiction of Christ washing the feet of His Disciples.
