Who are the Friends? | arewefriends
https://arewefriends.wordpress.com/about
Thoughts on being a Quaker in the 21st century. Who are the Friends? Who are the Friends? Friends are kind of hard to describe. Sometimes we act like a church. Sometimes we’re more like a movement. Friends (we’re also known as Quakers) started in the mid-1600’s during the Protestant Reformation in England. Our name comes from a passage in the Bible, John 15:14. Where Jesus says, “. You are my friends if you do what I command you. . .”. God speaks to the hearts and minds. In telling the truth. Like baptis...

My current focus is on how Quakers/Friends in the Midwest and elsewhere in the world can move forward during this time of change and transition. Quakers have always been growing and changing. Over the years, Quakers have adopted new forms of ministry. We have rediscovered our roots. I have a deep love for people. I have spent more than 20 years ...

Indiana Yearly Meeting is locked in a controversy over whether a local meeting can accept gay or lesbian people. The truths which we have received from Friends in the past. What we don’t often realize or admit publicly is that Quaker tradition. Here are some issues on which Friends have changed dramatically during the last 300 years:. Such as athletic games, mu...

Thoughts on being a Quaker in the 21st century. Who are the Friends? Back again after a while. September 18, 2014. Hi, all I’m back from vacation. During which I did my best to put aside my work and not to think any Quaker thoughts at all! In my last post, I said that one reason that I’m a Quaker pastor is that I love visiting people. In a typical month, I make between 30 to 50 calls and visits. Folks in our meeting are pretty busy. Even in today’s high-tech world, many people prefer a face-to-face visit.

Thoughts on being a Quaker in the 21st century. Who are the Friends? June 13, 2013. Last weekend was a special experience with two other Friends from our meeting, I drove 8 hours from Richmond, Indiana up to northern Michigan. We went to visit Friends of the Light. A small but vibrant Quaker meeting in Traverse City. The long drive flew by, as we talked, listened to each other, and caught up on each others’ thoughts, reflections, dreams and prayers. The car rocked as the CD player belted out French-C...

Thoughts on being a Quaker in the 21st century. Who are the Friends? Report from Friends General Conference. Back again after a while. August 13, 2015. I haven’t posted anything to this blog for a while — it’s been a difficult year and I didn’t have the time or energy. At the end of this summer I will be moving to High Point, North Carolina, where I’ve been called to serve as pastor at Springfield Friends Meeting. Thanks to all the Friends who have shared their good wishes and blessings! Things to think ...

Thoughts on being a Quaker in the 21st century. Who are the Friends? June 28, 2013. For the first 250 years of the Quaker movement, Quakers felt it was essential to separate themselves. From the world . Attending worship at another church, participating in outward physical sacraments, or marrying a non-Quaker, were all disownable offenses. Until the late 1800’s. Around the Quaker world say that when you join Friends, you drop your membership. Not just to worshiping congregation or meeting, but to prayer ...

Thoughts on being a Quaker in the 21st century. Who are the Friends? My favorite Quaker quotes. June 12, 2014. A lot of Quaker meetinghouses are pretty old. And mostly we love them. We enjoy the sense of history and connectedness to the past, and many meetings spend a great deal of time and effort preserving their buildings and keeping them as authentic as possible. Quakers also don’t like to spend money. When there are so many important causes and ministries out there asking for help. It’s simply too mu...

Thoughts on being a Quaker in the 21st century. Who are the Friends? Are Quakers wise givers? My favorite Quaker quotes. April 21, 2014. Hello again — I’ve been “off the air” and haven’t posted for a while. I thought I would share some of my favorite classic Quaker quotations of all time. 8220;You will say, Christ saith this, and the apostles say this; but what canst thou say? Art thou a child of Light and hast walked in the Light, and what thou speakest is it inwardly from God? 8220;There is a spirit wh...
Business and Busy-ness | arewefriends

Thoughts on being a Quaker in the 21st century. Who are the Friends? June 19, 2014. All too easily, we forget the distinction. Business. Is what we’re supposed to be doing. Busy-ness. Is what we all too often do. There’s a difference. Busy-ness, on the other hand, is what we fill our time with. It’s all the fluff and distraction, the non-essential nonsense that takes the place of the real business of our lives. Much of our culture is built on busy-ness. Does Miller Beer really make life worth living?

Software Testing Fundamentals
Friday, March 11, 2011. Various Levels of SoftwareTesting. Testing can be done on the following levels:. Component or Unit Testing. Unit testing tests the minimal software component, or module. Each unit (basic component) of the software is tested to verify that the detailed design for the unit has been correctly implemented. In an object-oriented environment, this is usually at the class level, and the minimal unit tests include the constructors and destructors. Posted by ritesh kumar. Links to this post.
