From the reception building, it is a short walk to the pools. Local guides will be happy to assist you on your journey.and they have the rope you need to get to the pools, so graciously accept their offer (a reasonable tip for this service is $5-10 USD). Haiti is a developing country filled with warm and hospitable people, but do be prepared for modern amenities to be unavailable. Saturday, August 27, 2011. Haiti happened. it's a beautiful, small country with passionate, kind, entertaining people. it had all of aspects i find myself loving about africa (smiling faces, no watches, fresh juice, reggaeton dancehall music, hilarious- not actually ironic- music videos and t-shirts, motorcycle rides, cheap beer, etc) but it is only a 3 hour flight from d.c! Continues to be a problem. Now i am back in d.c., safe and sound, watching the storm pass by again. Pictures (a bit out of order):.
