That’s our story and we’re stickin’ to it. Archive for April, 2009. April 27, 2009. I’m not crying now. I did not cry at the meeting. I can, however, say with great assurance that before the end of the evening, I will probably shed a few. Much like the saying used to identify the distinction between Aggies and non-Aggies, in relation to this job: from the outside looking in, you can’t understand it. And from the inside looking out, you really–you just can’t explain it. To my staff: you have all touched m...

That’s our story and we’re stickin’ to it. Laquo; The never-ending search. From the outside looking in. The art of interpreting English. June 27, 2009. Along with my other duties as editor in chief, the past few weeks I have been attending many administrative meetings, and there’s a term that keeps popping up. Shared governance. It’s become very overused at Texas A&M and I’m going to share my thoughts on the whole matter. To me, shared governance means everyone gets a say in what goes on. That the pe...

That’s our story and we’re stickin’ to it. 8220;At the end of the day, the winner of a rat race is still a rat.”. April 15, 2009. Let me apologize ahead of time for if it would seem that I’m not making very much sense. I’ve been up all night studying for a test, after which I will proceed to write a story due for work tonight and somewhere in the middle fit the plethora of meetings that comes with Hump Day. After knocking on Heaven”s front door. April 13, 2009. Congrats to our staff. And thank you fo...

That’s our story and we’re stickin’ to it. Archive for August, 2009. The best laid plans. August 11, 2009. This week I learned about flexibility, and not the physical kind. I learned that plans change at the last second, and you just have to go along with the ride. I was so proud of the staff this week because at our editor’s meeting we had a really productive time where we planned out exactly what was going to go into the paper, and it all worked perfectly. I should have known that couldn’t last.

That’s our story and we’re stickin’ to it. Archive for July, 2009. July 24, 2009. This week I learned about the dedication of journalists and photographers. Let me begin by saying that this week was a crazy one weather-wise. The day would start off cloudy, then get hot as usual, but then in the evening a thunderstorm would pop up. Monday night was where all the action was, however. From the outside looking in. July 7, 2009. What if there’s a problem that comes up that they need me for? From the press box.

Behind The Scenes | Inside The Battalion
https://thebattalion.wordpress.com/about
That’s our story and we’re stickin’ to it. The Battalion has been around since 1893, but this particular staff in this particular newsroom obviously hasn’t. These students work day in and day out to maintain those GPAs and put out a paper for their peers, Sunday through Thursday. Some do it for the passion; some do it for the paycheck. Regardless of why they do it, they are the unsung heroes of campus entertainment. March 31, 2009 at 11:07 am. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Instead of being in the newsroom till 1 or 2 in the morning, oftentimes we’ve got everything sent by 10. This shows greater familiarity with the programs we’ve been using, and increased efficiency. I hope that over the rest of the summer we can do even better than this. To me, shared governance means everyone gets...

That’s our story and we’re stickin’ to it. Archive for February, 2009. All around the world, statues crumble for me. February 24, 2009. Funny–the day after I posted that last blog entry, Facebook changed its policies back to their only semi-stalker-like stipulations. Guess I wasn’t the only incensed individual. What appalled me was the Obama administration’s praise of the whole process as “democratic.” Democratic? I don’t think so. When people are living in a state such as the inhabitants of th...On the ...

That’s our story and we’re stickin’ to it. Laquo; The art of interpreting English. From the outside looking in. July 7, 2009. The other thing that was different being on the other side was the worry. I just kept thinking, What if something happens? What if there’s a problem that comes up that they need me for? Which was highly unlikely, because Mattie’s really in charge of sending pages and keeping the newsroom together anyway, I’m just the public face of the paper. But I still worried.).
