The War of 1812 - Niagara to Stoney Creek. In 1812 the United States declared war on Britain, and invaded Upper Canada from the Niagara Penninsula. An American force crossed the Niagara River and captured Fort George (Niagara-on-the-Lake) in May 1813. With about 3500 troops, they moved on in pursuit of the British who had retreated to Burlington Heights (where Dundurn Castle now stands). The Re-enactment - Frequently Asked Questions. When is the re-enactment? Saturday, June 4 - 10am to 10pm. Sunday, June 5 - 10am to 4:30pm. What does it cost? 5 children (age 6 to 18). 25 family rate (2 adults and dependant children). Admission includes a wristband which allows you to enter the park both Saturday and Sunday. Is there a senior's rate? Yes It is $8. Are there additional costs once I enter the park? There are additional costs for the food, refreshments and merchandise. Sunday at 2:00 pm.

The widow Mary Jones Gage settled in Stoney Creek with her two children, James Jr. and Elizabeth, who were 16 and 14 years of age at the time of their arrival here. They came to Upper Canada from New York State in 1790, after the American Revolutionary War. Battlefield House was the homestead of the widow Mary Jones Gage and her two children, James and Elizabeth, who journeyed to the area from New York State in 1790. Mrs. Gage received a grant of 200 acres and in exchange was required to swear allegiance to the Crown.
