Saturday, June 15, 2013. On mothers day we were invited to Massi's house, to a lovo, this is a local way of preparing the food, lets say its the Fiji bbq style. First the meat gets prepared in some leaves, this is a pig leg. This is the kitchen fire, but today we cook outside. A fire is made outside, and stone's are heated up in the fire. Friday, March 23, 2012. The dock with the boat from the Marine Police Unit, in the back Helena on anchor, we were the only sailboat at Betio harbor, Tarawa. This is the recycling compound, near the dock. The inner harbor in Betio. One Japanese cannon overlooking the ocean. A second cannon, with broken muzzle. You can see the impact from the bullets on the cannon. Just above Glenda you can see the impact of a cannon bullet, probably a ricochet. More impacts from bullets. Two remaining cannons on this beach.
