The ski area saw another 100" of new snow about a week before new years. Let's see if Mt. Baker can break it's own previous record of 1440". Once this settles it should be great winter conditions. Bellingham Bay to Mt. Baker. The Mt. Baker Wilderness Area was created as part of the Wilderness Act of 1984 comprising of 117,900 acres and is accessible by more than 200 miles of trails. Mt. Baker Wilderness borders the North Cascades National Park on the east and the Canadian border on the north. Black bears, black-tailed deer, Marmots, Pikas and Mountain Goats are seen in the high country. Late fall, Salmon are visible in the streams and rivers. A bit of History:. My passion is to hike into remote wild places and capture the light as it plays across the landscape. Photography encourages me to slow down, look and see details of our world in a new perspective from grand to miniature. I search out scenes that speak of the splendor and fragile state of nature.
