Bayua Beach Inn Homestay. Lake Maninjau’s closest airport is Padang, which is approximately 3.5 hours drive. Padang is just a one hour flight from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore and also receives direct flights from Jakarta and Medan. The airport is located on the road towards Lake Maninjau so it is faster to come directly here from the airport than to go into Padang first. T he Beach Inn is about 100 metres walk through the rice-fields, right on the edge of the lake.

Bayua Beach Inn Homestay. Bayua Beach Inn has 2 rooms and 3 bungalows located right on the lake’s edge, surrounded by rice-fields. All the rooms have windows with fly screens, cold-water showers, western-style (non-flush) toilets and double beds. The 2 rooms share a bathroom and share a common, partially enclosed verandah overlooking the lake. The bungalows all have small verandahs. Adjacent to the bungalow next to the lake is a cafe where guests frequently gather for meals and socializing. Rooms 1 and 2.

Catch a bemo (mini bus) to one of the colorful local markets, where you can buy fresh fruit and local sweet treats. On Sundays the market is in Kota Baru, on Thursdays in Maninjau and on Fridays it’s in Bayua. Rent a motorbike or bicycle and go around the lake (approx 60km). Learn to canoe like a local!
