Die Gentherapie versucht, Gendefekte eines einzelnen Gens durch das Einbringen des defekten Gens in den Krper zu kompensieren und so Erbkrankheiten zu behandeln. Die Einschleusung der Zellen kann auerhalb des Krpers geschehen. Dazu werden dem Betroffenen zuerst Zellen entnommen, dann im Labor das neue Gen in die Zellen transferiert und die vernderten Zellen anschlieend wieder in den Krper zurckgebracht. Fr eine Gentherapie direkt im Krper gibt es spezielle Vehikel, so genannte Vektoren.
