This page summarizes the major interventions used by Jaraña to improve food production, water quality, and water availability in rural Oruro, Bolivia. Much of Jaraña's work in the Bolivian highlands focuses on helping impoverished farmers adapt their livelihoods to a changing climate, where water is becoming increasingly scarce. He projects described on this page can be implemented for less than $500 per family helped. Approximate costs of each intervention are listed in brackets in the text below.

Saturday, July 21, 2012. What I´ve been up to so far. It is hard to believe that nearly 7 weeks have passed since I arrived in Bolivia. I’ve spent the vast majority of my time so far working closely with COBAGUAL. 8217;s team leader and sole full time employee, Felipe Quispe. So far we’ve focused on networking with other NGO’s in Bolivia that can provide us with skills, advice, and to ensure our success once we begin work in the beneficiary community. Jaraña (pronounced harAnya) is a member organization of the Bolivian-Canadian Clean Water Network. Jaraña's main office is in Marquina, a suburb of the Bolivian city of Cochabamba. Their Cochabamba office is a base for literacy and computer training provided for indigenous youth from rural communities.
