graciesbakes: Gadget of the Month
http://graciesbakes.blogspot.com/2009/06/gadget-of-month.html
Cakes, Bakes, Sweets and Treats. Sunday, June 7, 2009. Gadget of the Month. I am a terrible shopper. Let me clarify that. I forget to write a list, dash round the store picking up things that I think I need and then I get distracted by something shiny and new, buy it and get home and realise that I have forgotten something vital, like the lemons for a lemon cake, or the chocolate for a chocolate mousse. MIU Silicone Bowl Scraper, Blue". In the bottom of the bowl. Just to taste of course!

Cakes, Bakes, Sweets and Treats. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. graciesbakes: I *HEART* Sunshine
http://graciesbakes.blogspot.com/2009/06/i-heart-sunshine.html
Cakes, Bakes, Sweets and Treats. Thursday, June 4, 2009. It makes things seem very happy and bright. Sunshine puts everyone in good form and it has certainly made the trauma of moving house a little more bearable! Rests from packing and moving are taken in the garden with a nice cool glass of lemonade and some fresh chilled strawberries. . However, the ongoing moving means that my lovely baking things are all packed away as I have moved back in with my parents until my house is actually finished! More po...

http://graciesbakes.blogspot.com/2009/05/olive-rosemary-focaccia-bread.html
Cakes, Bakes, Sweets and Treats. Sunday, May 17, 2009. Olive and Rosemary Focaccia Bread. I love family occasions where you get to sit around, eat good food, drink a little wine and chat and catch up with the relatives that you see once or twice a year. . This weekend, I spent the night in Galway with family in honour of my cousin's confirmation. There was a gathering afterwards with about 25 people so I offered to make some breads. To make this focaccia bread you will need. . Place the flour and half of...

graciesbakes: Proving a point!
http://graciesbakes.blogspot.com/2009/05/proving-point.html
Cakes, Bakes, Sweets and Treats. Sunday, May 17, 2009. Bread can be time consuming. Kneading the dough can take a long time, especially if you use strong flour. . Then you have to leave the bread to prove. . Basically, letting your bread prove, means that you are letting the yeast time to work and raise the dough. Generally, to do this you cover the dough with a damp tea towel and put it in a draught free, warm place for 30-40 mins until it has about doubled in size. . The scientific explanation is here.

From Under the Ash - Voices of Pompeii
From Under the Ash - Voices of Pompeii. A short study of the ancient city of Pompeii - bringing history to life from under the ash - and with it, lessons of how to survive (or learn from) natural disaster. Tuesday, October 09, 2007. I love clouds. Especially ones that look like a storm. But did you know that clouds can talk? Clouds like these appeared over Mount St. Helens just one month prior to its May 1980 eruption. Was it a warning? You can also see how seismic activity is recorded. In Pompeii, the a...

November 24, 2014. Bikes, Blues and Cell Phones. October 2, 2014. Everywhere I looked I saw people engrossed in their smart device. In the crowds, sitting on the walls, sitting on their bikes. It made little difference what was going on around them. They had their eyes glued to their cell phones. These are some of my favorite images from the week. Mr Jon3z at Monte Ne. May 9, 2013.
