Bird's Eye View: August 2011
http://bdurham.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
August 20, 2011. Justin was in Colton's room (so that he could take apart the crib and spray paint it brown) with his tool belt. Colton didn't want to be out-done by Dad, so he grabbed his tool belt as well. Colton quickly discovered that a felt hammer is not as good of a tool as a real screw driver. And I will soon post the grand results of the spray painting and Colton (and baby's) new room.Get excited! August 13, 2011. The other day when Justin came home from work, Colton started shouting "lucky duck!
Bird's Eye View: September 2011

September 28, 2011. Yesterday he decided to put two fantastic phrases on repeat: "Mommy pretty! I'll give Justin the credit for teaching him these phrases, but I'll tell you that nothing makes you feel better than hearing someone tell you over and over that you are pretty and fun. Keep up the good work, Colton! September 09, 2011. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Bird's Eye View: I said it wouldn't happen...
http://bdurham.blogspot.com/2012/09/i-said-it-wouldnt-happen.html
September 19, 2012. I said it wouldn't happen. I assumed I would never get around to blogging about the months that I missed, but the boys are both still napping, and I still don't want to clean up.so here's to a photo recap of the un-blogged months, in no particular order. Colton looked cute in a helmet and harness while rock climbing with all his Durham cousins in Rock Canyon. Colton enjoyed his marshmallow, but was less appreciative of the sticky hands it left behind. Michael and Spencer hiked too.
Bird's Eye View: October 2011
http://bdurham.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
October 29, 2011. Yes, I was painting at 7.5 months pregnant. Colton really liked working with the roller. (Sorry, I guess I should have rotated the picture before uploading it.). Nothing like painting with a two-year-old. It was serious mother-son bonding. (And someday I'll get around to rotating this picture.). October 21, 2011. So I didn't get to see the exciting conclusion. Pity. Anyone out there good at interpreting dreams? My personal take: I'm soooooooooo ready to have this baby! October 17, 2011.
Bird's Eye View: June 2011
http://bdurham.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
June 28, 2011. If you asked Colton who is best friends are (and if he could actually speak), he would probably tell you Bob a La. That's Bob and Larry. You know. From Veggietales. Colton loves them.and now he loves that he can hug them and squeeze them and take them for walks in his baby doll stroller. Thanks Grandma Louise! June 17, 2011. I'm sure that someday Colton will realize that my alarm clock is not actually a phone, but until then he's been having some really great conversations. June 15, 2011.

Gaa-gaa Saga: Memoirs of a Mother. Anecdotes of daily life with young kids from the perspective of an LDS mom. Thursday, April 19, 2012. Zack provides endless entertainment to our family. Usually, it is a result of naughtiness and pranking. There was the situation with our car. There was the situation with the neighbor's dog. There was the story of the missing keys. There was the new gallon of milk. Zack given a moment alone. He is a very creative child. Who would pack a lemon for a five year old? I am l...
What a Family!: January 2012
http://kplusjcrew.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 27, 2012. The Book of Mormon is the Course of Study for the Year. Most church members have read Nephi more than any other part of the Book of Mormon. They start and stop, start and stop. At least it is an incredible book! It is a true story, written as a history of a people through a period of 900 years. And they say, "The Lord doesn't make such things known unto us." This must have been frustrating. And yet, did they ask? Here is a great scripture from 1 Ne 17:13. Scotti to be baptized o...

Everyone Loves an Asian Girl: 2008: Year of the firsts!!
http://asiankeng.blogspot.com/2008/01/2008-year-of-firsts.html
Everyone Loves an Asian Girl. Tuesday, January 08, 2008. 2008: Year of the firsts! Happy new year to all! As much as I've attempted to embrace odd numbers, and especially prime ones, I still have to say that whatever weird freakish part of my brain it is, feels comfort and ease in the nicely divisible 2008. Not to mention it's my year for 28, a perfect number. What haven't you done yet that you've 'always wanted to'? Now is the time! Spend a day in the National Arboretum. Visit the Baltimore Aquarium.

Everyone Loves an Asian Girl. Monday, June 15, 2009. Being Married, Part 1. Things that you never expect to happen in your life but now do because you are eternally joined with someone else, whose actions now directly affect you. Hearing "Thank you, Ms. Keng. Thank you, Mr. Keng" at the Safeway check-out line as we bought groceries last night; since I paid, my name came up on the bill. I giggled and pointed a finger at "Mr. Keng" all the way to the car. We couldn't find anything in there.". We had alread...
Everyone Loves an Asian Girl: Kitchen Gadget Regrets
http://asiankeng.blogspot.com/2012/03/kitchen-gadget-regrets.html
Everyone Loves an Asian Girl. Thursday, March 22, 2012. Today the NY Times posted a fabulous article about the. Kitchen tools you never needed. I mean, seriously. Who on earth buys an asparagus peeler. Or does one really need an automatic butter slicer. Who buys these stupid, useless, pointless, unnecessary items? However. as I applauded myself for not owning pretty much anything from Williams and Sonoma. I was going to make panini sandwiches, AND griddle pancakes, AND grill chicken safely and humanely w...
Everyone Loves an Asian Girl: Random Rants
http://asiankeng.blogspot.com/2007/06/random-rants.html
Everyone Loves an Asian Girl. Wednesday, June 13, 2007. Everyone has them. That one little thing that isn't all that bad. It might have even been funny the first time. But given ten, or twenty, or a hundred times of that little thing, it evolves into a full-blown-beyond-pet peeve that ignites your fuse and crushes your humor and patience every time hereafter. Whether it be a "Has anyone ever told you you look like Prince Charles? Is it really so hard to spell/pronounce a four-letter last name correctly?

Everyone Loves an Asian Girl. Friday, June 04, 2010. It's a Pierson Produce Party! So we joined a CSA for the first time this year (for those of you raising an eyebrow in confusion, it's a community supported agriculture, where you pay money for a 'share' of a local farmer's crop). It's been an adventure already. four heads of lettuce a week is a LOT of lettuce! In the words of the cheesy Iron Chef host: A la cuisine! Friday, June 04, 2010. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I couldn't resist.it's MANGO SEASON! If everyone out there tasted even one of these delicious ripening mangoes from our tree, you would drop everything and move in with me in Hawaii. And why not? The more the merrier! Half of my small readership probably HAS lived here for some amount of time! Was it time that made the difference?

Sunday, 6 May 2012. OK, so I've been really slack. About writing this blog. The last thing I remember I was working on the ATS and trying to get back in shape. Completed the test and did enough to pass, we'll see what everything else has to say. Started working with a nutrition coach, Sherri Kruger of Newtrition 911 and that has worked out to be a really great partnership. I've lost 20lbs and gained so much perspective and insight. I was a doubter, but I'm a believer now. Looking forward to being there!

December 24, 2012. November 05, 2012. We recently went on one last family rock climbing adventure with our friends/neighbors before they leave city life for Montana. Colton keeps telling us that he is going to go to Montana with Harper. He's pretty sad to lose his "best friend." We're pretty sad too. Here are some highlights from our adventure:. Hi, Mommy. I'm irresistibly cute! If I'd gotten the shot two seconds earlier, he actually had his arm around her waist. He loves her. Thanks for bringing me Mom!
