The staff of Thanda, which is made up of all local people now that have learned how and what to work with the kids about from past volunteers, work with high school students after they get out of high school from 3-5 in the afternoon. So this week we met again with the ag director from the high school down the road and also brought her the chicken coop (sorry I still don’t have pics, the internet here is not working good at all). She gave us some booklets over permaculture that are very interesting and full of good information with lesson plans for kids. We are also attending a permaculture training field day on the 8. Beau in South Africa. Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Well this past week I mainly just finished up building the chicken coop (ill try to put pics on here in a couple of days) and taught the students about soil textures and the history of agriculture. Although, its starting to become evident that they may not need to learn or ever use the information I am teaching them. This past weekend some friends and me made a trip about 4 hours south of here to Port St. Johns on the coast. February 16, 2010 at 6:03 PM.
