Please excuse the noise and mess.the kids are making happy memories. My librarian laid this book in front of me during in-service. I knew right away this was my first week's lesson! Gives us a great little picture book that encourages us to make something wonderful out of a mistake. I can't think of anything more perfect for the first week in art class. I just can't bear to talk about rules and seating arrangements for a whole week! I know the kiddos appreciate not being tortured as well.

ABC: Autism, Books and Children. Saturday, February 7, 2015. Completing the Circuit: Autism, Reading, and Adaptive Living Skills. Several months ago, a post on the alsc-l listserv came from a librarian with a question from one of her patrons, a mother with a young autistic son. The mother was looking for books that would "teach him that it's okay to make mistakes." The librarian was seeking suggestions of titles from her colleagues. As a result of mulling over many thoughts on designing book lists for au...

The Fine Line Between Fatherhood and Sanity. Dad’s Think Too. Children’s Book Review: A Beautiful Oops. 8220;A Beautiful Oops”. One of the best ‘better late then never’ Christmas presents you can buy for your favourite nephews/nieces is Barnery Saltzberg’s ‘A Beautiful Oops’. We have read this to Jonah now for the last 18 months, (since he was about 4 months old), and he still loves this book. It is a perfect mix of colour, design, interactivity and imagination fodder. There is one page in the book that ...

Monday, October 14, 2013. Based on this sketch. Links to this post. Saturday, October 5, 2013. We made this little project in the Creative Art& Performing Arts in Early Childhood, inspired by. Barney Saltzberf's Beautiful Oops. So here it is:. Once upon a time, there were Mama polar bear and the cub lived in the Arctic. They were carrying the silly hippo on their backs. Hint: the hippo says "O". Three of them swam all the way from North Pole to Singapore just to see me and Teacher Nadhirah. :).

Jason Segel does a wonderful job narrating his story. His differentiation of voices between all the characters was amazing, each one being very distinct and more fun than the previous one to listen to. My personal favorite vocalization was Meduso and the snakes on his head. Favorite Chapter Title: Clown Down. I was ...

Sunday, November 23, 2014. Let's Design A New Space Part Three! In any design process it is important to see what is already out there, not only to show you what the possibilities are but to also draw inspiration from. For the last 2 cycles, the third graders have been doing just that. I created a Blendspace. I can not begin to count the number of times I heard them saying, "That is so cool! They were completely engaged in the process and having a blast. Next Step: We start designing! He is so funny!
