http://www.theunclearfamily.com/2014/01/5-lessons-of-first-time-homebuying.html
Friday, January 31, 2014. 5 Lessons of First-Time Homebuying. Wednesday morning, Nick and I reached an agreement to purchase a home for our family. This is our first house, so we had a lot of challenges to overcome and learning to do as we went through the process. We'll be closing in March and we're looking forward to the girls' next birthdays and our next Christmas being in the home we're going to make there. 1 - As a buyer, you are held hostage by the market. 2 - Family dynamics are tested. Those of y...

The uNclear Family: Why Did the Parents Cross the Road? - #1
http://www.theunclearfamily.com/2014/03/why-did-parents-cross-road-1.html
Sunday, March 30, 2014. Why Did the Parents Cross the Road? To get to the charter school tours fashionably early to get a few extra minutes with the principal. On Monday (April Fools Day, seriously? It got real when Claire was just a shade past 2 and I was newly pregnant with Natalie. Preschool was on the horizon and with limited options outside of day-cares in Columbia, we knew it might be competitive. As we were getting started, I was drawn to a documentary on Netflix called Nursery University. About t...

The uNclear Family: St. Valentine's Assembly Line
http://www.theunclearfamily.com/2014/02/st-valentines-assembly-line.html
Monday, February 17, 2014. St Valentines Assembly Line. One thing I've learned about myself as a parent is that I really like to teach. I definitely wouldn't want to teach other people's children, but I love teaching my own. So Claire and Natalie are often the victims of projects laden with a million lessons rolled into them. A perfect example of this was the creation of Valentine's Day Cards for preschool this year. Success #1 - Saving. Success #2 - Writing. Half Success #3 - Caring. What's in a Name?

Friday, January 17, 2014. This Blog's Birth Story. Like most things in my life, the idea of doing this has been bouncing around in my head for a while, but I wouldn't call it an actual decision to start. I woke up two days ago, thought of a name for this blog and here I am writing the first post. This is a more accurate depiction of our daily life (sorry future Claire):. The uNclear Family: Please Don't Give the Children Balloons!!!
http://www.theunclearfamily.com/2014/04/please-dont-give-children-balloons.html
Saturday, April 5, 2014. Please Don't Give the Children Balloons! Sure she looks cute, but don't be fooled. This relationship is one click of the camera away from devolving into chaos. Before I was a parent, I really liked balloons. They are colorful and fun to dance through the air. I have fond memories of playing keep-it-up as a child and learning about static electricity. To me, balloons and childhood went together. I even did a balloon themed first-birthday party for Claire. Message With A Bottle.

http://www.theunclearfamily.com/2014/07/were-gearing-up-for-potty-training-again.html
Saturday, July 12, 2014. We're Gearing Up For Potty Training (Again). It's that time again in our house - potty training. Natalie's showing signs that she's ready and just like with Claire, we definitely aren't.but here we go again. When it was time to tackle potty training with Claire, I put together a rewards chart because I didn't like the idea of giving candy every time she went. I posted my charts on Pinterest. Here's what I used:. 2, 14x2 in sheets of posterboard. This first chart gets filled up pr...

I was reflecting on what life will be like now that I'm not in school and I realized that the last time I wasn't, we were childless and have moved twice since then. I cannot even measure the changes that have taken place in my life. I've guest posted on the Crosby MBA Blog. About my experience as a part-time student. Message With A Bottle.
