How to top meeting santa. 20 December, 2012. I met Santa yesterday and I thought my day couldn’t get any better. But it did. I was nominated for an award. That’s right. I am chuffed. I am humbled. I’m a pig in mud. I’m a happy clam. I’m a happy clam in mud! Being the curious person I am, I tried to find some background on the ‘a very inspiring blogger award’ – but I couldn’t. Even with my mad googling skills. So I took that as a sign to just go with the flow. The rules for receiving the award are:. Three...

Time outs are necessary |
https://ginplustonic.wordpress.com/2016/07/30/time-outs-are-necessary
Time outs are necessary. 30 July, 2016. I don’t subscribe to the idea of time outs. I think they create distance, discourage connection and have the potential to grow resentment rather than the obedience they are designed to achieve. I think they serve one purpose, to give the parent a mental break, a pause if you like, when they have faced so much dreadful behaviour for so long and nothing else has worked. It didn’t teach him anything. I didn’t change his behaviour. He learned that mothers are fallible.

Truth No. 5 – no alone time … ever. 23 June, 2016. Seriously. You will have no peace or solitary time. A little animal pasta died in the making. 29 July, 2016. What better way to add to the chaos of being a mother to a 4 1/2 year-old than to add coloured staining liquids to the day from hell? Putting all the disasters aside, I had a Pinterest success! Buddy and I (mostly I, because apparently making pasta necklaces it’s not cool when you’re a four and a half year old and know everything there is to know about the world) made animal pasta necklaces. Work bloody hard to find your village. 16 July, 2016. I wish I could convey the majesty of this Acmena tree on our river bed. Its roots mould along the river bank rather than down, giving it enormous strength during the frequent down pours and torrents the river experiences while simultaneously supporting the banks. There’s some sense to that. We all know that saying “it takes a village to raise a child” right? Stabilityincommunity #findyourvillage #spreadyourarmswide #beopen. Share . . . Click to share ...

Motherhood tip – investing. 7 October, 2016. I love my ukulele because it allows me to do something just for me once in a while. Find something, anything, that you can do that pleases you just because you like it. Not because you should like it, or because it makes someone else happy, or because it’s easier.
