Monthly Archives: December 2013. How to Live on Twenty-Four Hours a Day. December 27, 2013. I had three wrapped presents from my husband this year. This is fairly typical. However, one of them was labeled as “To: Rochelle From: The Winner of the 2013 Husband of the Year Competition.”. Also, I had an Amazon Kindle charger in my stocking. So that might have been a hint. I also couldn’t have been more wrong. I didn’t know it when I downloaded it, although by the end, I had my suspicions, but the book ...

Monthly Archives: March 2014. An Update on My WIPs. March 27, 2014. As of today, I’m officially into my third trimester of pregnancy. If I were to go into labor today, my daughter’s chances of surviving to her first birthday are 96 percent. This is good news and takes away much of my nervousness. We could have the baby today and, with the exception of our completely unprepared nursery, everything would be fine, right? Well, sort of. I could probably send out my story as I printed it a few weeks ago. ...

Monthly Archives: June 2014. False Labor and Practicing. June 20, 2014. I’m currently into my 54th hour of false labor. For those who don’t know–it hurts just as bad as real labor but does nothing to bring birth any closer. So I’m stuck going it alone, at home, with no good drugs to take the edge off. It isn’t fair. Some people sell the first novel they write. Why should others have to go through the whole thing thinking it’s for real but it turns out to be just practice? Your practice is not in vain.
