Sunday, August 29, 2010. Ziplining, Horses, and Rain. The climb was pretty difficult since there was running water cascading down the wall. Monday, September 27, 2010. Reminder: Shake out your clothes and shoes. After about 10 minutes the pain went away and Megan is doing fine now. Quite the adventure for 7 this morning. Before we left for class this morning we left my shoe there (including the scorpion for demonstration and documentation purposes) and funny enough the cleaning lady had cleaned it up by the time we got back home. Sunday, November 7, 2010. Fox Glacier - on the ice! Yesterday we ventured onto the ice of Fox Glacier. Although there's a walking path with a good view of the glacier, the only way to actually get on the ice is with a guided tour so off we went at 8am. We hiked for about an hour in the rainforest along the valley edge, and then strapped crampons onto our shoes and made our way onto the ice (via a nicely carved ice staircase made daily by the tour company). Here is Andy with a nice view up the glacier.

Sunday, October 31, 2010. Blue, blue Lake Tekapo. Yesterday Andy and I began our South Island Exploration Tour by heading out of Christchurch and down the eastern side of the island. Our target is Milford Sound, but that is quite a long drive so we stopped off for the night in Lake Tekapo. Here's Andy enjoying the vista from the garden right outside our room.
