These are really special. They were in my Grandma's recipe drawer every Christmas. There's not anyone in the family that does not remember these. Luckily we started our family cookbook while Grandma was still alive and were able to have her give us the recipe to these and many other of her special recipes. 2 cups butter or margarine. 2 eggs, beaten. 4 1/2 cups flour. 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder. 1 cup candied cherries, chopped. 2 squares unsweetened chocolate. 1/3 cup poppy seeds.

Saturday, October 16, 2010. One of my favorite things about fall is baking. Apple crisp has always been a staple in our house growing up (due to my Dad's LOVE of apples! I usually don't make it at my house, but I bought some Delicious. Apples and thought I would give it a go! The result was an absolutely wonderful fall dessert best warm with ice cream! Peel and slice apples (enough to fill a 9x12 pan roughly half-way). Note- a vegetable peeler works wonders to peel the apples! Pour that over the apples.
