Friday, July 10, 2009. Today is the second day my Mom has been in the hospital following her 2nd knee replacement surgery. This time it's the left knee. She has been in and out of hospitals for the majority of my life. She's had cysts removed, a hysterectomy and several other surgical procedures that make me queasy and weak in the knees. We went to H.E.B.'s Central Market here in Katy. It's a rather new store in that it's been open for less than two years. Our small town is booming and new retailers are springing up all over! I am no angel, by any means, but I can spot a shady character from a mile away and I’d rather not get taken emotionally, financially and spiritually again. As you can see though I've been moving, a lot, lately so I have justifiable cause. :). Ok, so quick update. I visited my bestie Tina in LA, my brother and his family in Las Vegas, another one of my besties Meredith in Phoenix and my aunt in Tucson on my drive from SF to Houston. Crazy! QUANDO BAMBINI FANNO OHHH! I guess it's the universe telling me to behave for a week. :). This has been quite the experience. My glands were so swollen that I could not touch my own neck nor swallow. I made a crazy face with each gulp attempt. The funny thing is I'm so blunt with describing my symptoms and my rationale for them initially, I make my nurse assistants/techs blush. LOL. I'm on antibiotics now and hope to be eating solids in the next day or so. :). Next week, watch out SF! Napali Coast, Kauai.

QUANDO BAMBINI FANNO OHHH! During the holiday season I think it's ok when one disappears from the blogging world. We can just thank facebook for allowing us to look back and smile at our adventures. The start of December was the ending of my work contract at KVMH. I loved working there and the people that I occasionally saw. It's a quaint hospital where I had lots of autonomy. Although I craved higher acuity, I appreciated the care that I was able to provide with the resources that I had.

QUANDO BAMBINI FANNO OHHH! I have loved being here in Kauai. I've had so many amazing opportunities and met some amazing people. I just completed another big hike. It was a 8 mile round trip hike to Hanakapiai Falls off the Kalalau Trail. I was hopping over boulders, balancing along rocky and muddy paths, sloshing through mud puddles and marveling Mother Earth. If only hikes everywhere led to views as gorgeous as these. The most common and my first visitor in the apartment was the good ole cockroach!
