Here the adventure continues. This was our free day in Johannesburg. There are remnants of the World Cup everywhere and it is a very exciting time to be here. We are staying at a wonderful and very cultural hotel, called the Africa Centre Hotel. It is safe and secure, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The trip is going extremely well. I really thought we were going to get a kudu today. We went to a new piece of neighboring property and saw a lot of smaller kudus. We got a nice chance to get a shot on a big kudu, but before we could get everything set up, the animal ran off. We tried very hard to get Mike a bushbuck. We had several chances throughout the week, but the beast would stand still for only 2 or 3 seconds before running. We went out today and did our best but still came up empty-handed. Aaron got a very nice impala while sitting at a water hole during the mid-day hours. It was a perfect shot at an animal facing directly at him. I don't know who was happier, Aaron or his father, Mike. We have seen some wonderful sights as we drive the property. We find some old Zulu huts that have long ago been abandoned. There are some old graves near them and it is fascinating to piece together the personal history of some of the people who have been here. PO Box 533, Hastings, MN 55033.
