Monday, 25 July 2011. It has been several days since beekeeping camp has ended however I promised that I would post a few recipes that you can do at home with beeswax and/honey. All of the recipes are taken from the book entitled, "The Backyard Beekeeper" by Kim Flottum. 1/2 Cup Cocoa butter (I also used olive oil). 4 tablespoons avocado or coconut oil. 1/2 teaspoon fragrance or essential oil. 1 Cup shredded beeswax (you can use a grater for this). 16 Cups coconut oil. 5 tablespoons pure vanilla extract.

Although the rain was pouring down for most of the morning we still managed to get outside to view the hives to look at pollen, nectar and larvae. Tuesday, 12 July 2011. What to bring to camp. Hi everyone, please read bellow things to note for camp:). 1 Extra water- It is hot and being in the bee suits is indeed hot. Bring lots of water. 2 A change of clothes- Sometimes clothes can get sticky or sweaty so campers may want to change after camp is over. 3 Lunch and healthy snacks. 4 Wear closed in shoes that have grip- We don't want to give the bees any ideas plus sometimes the floor gets sticky when harvesting honey.
