Just Grapes: June 2009
http://just-grapes.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Let wine be drunk, though the heavens fall. Monday, June 29, 2009. This particular Tempranillo had a nose of baked raspberry, strawberry pie, graphite and dust. The palate was big on baked fruit, but had wonderful undertones of herbs and dried out underbrush. This is a large red with edge and fruit without sweetness that will kill most BBQ's and braised meats. Very Good and Highly Recommended. Saturday, June 27, 2009. North Coast Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. Stout - isn't it summer? This was well...

Just Grapes: August 2008
http://just-grapes.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Let wine be drunk, though the heavens fall. Sunday, August 31, 2008. Rustenberg John X Merriman 2005. Ben Marco Malbec 2005. A gift from a friend giving me a lesson in South American Terroir. I found this Argentian (Mendoza) Malbec plummy, with a small amount of earthiness and very smooth if maybe somewhat flabby tannins. Simple but pleasant. Very sweet, though - but this paired well with the Dominos Pizza I ate with it (what can I say? Hirsch Gaisberg Riesling 2005. This Hirsch offering from a very good...

Just Grapes: 2006 Bordeaux Lunch and Tasting
http://just-grapes.blogspot.com/2009/09/2006-bordeaux-lunch-and-tasting.html
Let wine be drunk, though the heavens fall. Wednesday, September 2, 2009. 2006 Bordeaux Lunch and Tasting. 2006 Chateau Cantermerle, Haut Médoc. A nose of blackberry, graphite, lead and raspberry and a palate drinking well right now with wood/cedar, bright raspberry and cassis, chocolate and mint. 2006 Chateau Gloria, St. Julien. 2006 Chateau Rauzan-Ségla, Margaux. 2006 Chateau Grand-Pur-Lacost, Pauillac. The coffee-like nose led into a nice up front blackberry taste and fairly bright acidity on the pala...

Just Grapes: March 2009
http://just-grapes.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Let wine be drunk, though the heavens fall. Tuesday, March 31, 2009. I have one more Napa post to come, as well as the Rhone Rangers tasting and the Santa Barbara trip, but I needed a break from the seriously long updates to bring you something completley different. Monty Python would be proud. Monday, March 30, 2009. Walking up the porch to find a glass of 2007 Sauvignon Blanc. It seems as though concrete has a special quality to its sufrace area (more porous) that increases the amount of wine exposed t...

124; Comments RSS. Posted on January 5, 2009. First off, I love all the Smuttynose. Beers I’ve tried thus far. I think I mostly love saying “Smuttynose”. Makes me happy. Almost as happy as the beer itself. She seems so happy. Just look at that woman on the label. That picture reminds me of shots of my mother taken back in the day. It’s a very comforting photo. And a very comforting beer. 8 out of 10. 124; Tagged: New Hampshire. 124; 2 Comments. Great Brewers – Union Beer. Viagra online withou….

124; Comments RSS. Magic Hat hI.P.A. Posted on February 26, 2009. I’ve never really been a big fan of the beers out of Magic Hat Brewery. However, I really do love their hI.P.A. after trying it for the first time this past weekend. Oh and the ABV is 6.80%, so it isn’t too strong. Not that you can’t handle strong beers. I’m just sayin’. Definitely one of my favorite IPAs on the market right now. Check it out. 9 out of 10. 124; Tagged: IPA. 124; 6 Comments. Posted on February 24, 2009. Turned out to be a d...

124; Comments RSS. Posted on November 14, 2008. Tried this wonderful beer out of Sixpoints Brewery. In Brooklyn, NY the other day and I’m hooked! I haven’t been able to find out too much about it, but it appears to be a limited one-time only brew according to the kids at BeerAdvocate. It garnered a healthy B from the measly 8 reviews it garnered from the BeerAdvocate faithful. But the comments seem to back up what I thought. Smooth, drinkable, tasty…all good things. Let’s hope tha...124; 4 Comments.
