Dr. J's Beer Blog

Dr J's Beer Blog. Sunday, June 14, 2015. I just tapped my latest beer creation. 3 weeks ago, I brewed 10 gallons of Kolsch. I was very excited about this batch because it was my first time using my new 17 gallon stainless steel conical fermentation vessel! We downed our beer and took another one and did the same thing until all the glasses were empty. The waitress then brought another filled kranz to the table. How could you not like Kolsch after an experience like that? Kolsch is the perfect summer beer!

Dr. J's Beer Blog: February 2005

http://beerchaser.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html

Dr J's Beer Blog. Thursday, February 17, 2005. The Week Of Beer. I started my week with a beer from Weyerbacher. Weyerbacher Brewery in Pennsylvania, USA, makes some of my favorite beers and has some of the best names for beer that anyone could come up with. This brew was an Imperial Stout aged in oak barrels. With the name, Heresy. Next up was Bass Ale. My third beer style of the week was Kolsch,. I purchased two bottles of Gaffel Kolsch. While I was looking through the beer shelves I came across a smal...

http://beerchaser.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html

Dr J's Beer Blog. Tuesday, October 25, 2005. The Allure of Ale. Way before I knew what a Lager was, I had heard of Ale. As a young man, I would often watch movies on the television where swashbuckling swordfighters would duel to the end. Knights would battle on great steads with enormous lances, Hercules performed his Twelve Labors and Robin Hood took down the Sheriff of Notingham. On not one Saturday afternoon, did I ever hear the words "Lagers for all! Sounds pretty good too! Extra Special Bitter Ale&#...

Dr. J's Beer Blog: Belgian Rule?

http://beerchaser.blogspot.com/2007/11/belgian-rule.html

Dr J's Beer Blog. Friday, November 23, 2007. Why is it that Belgium brewed beers do so much damage (Think Hangover) and are the cause of many a holiday of havoc? So what is it? Why the headache the next morning? Why the brain fog? It must be the secret ingredients. I have learned that after quietly existing as a peace loving member of the European Union, Belgium has secretly, over the past few hundreds of years, been trying to takeover the world. The Beers in Review:. Trappistes Rochefort 10,. The number...

Dr J's Beer Blog. Wednesday, April 27, 2005. Dr J's Excellent European Beer Adventure Part Two. So, was the trip worth it? I didn't get the draft beer that inspired the trip, but I managed to have a fun night out. The bottled brown ale was very good, after all it was a big bottle. After two, how could it be bad? The next morning, I spent an hour walking around the city taking pictures of all the bridges. New Castle is the city of Bridges and a very beautiful city to take pictures of.

Howard Stern Meets Craft Brewing. Enter The Era of Shock Brews – The AleMonger

Craft Beer, Tangents, Rules, and Rants. April 17, 2013. Howard Stern Meets Craft Brewing. Enter The Era of Shock Brews. A few weeks ago I was reading about that Finnish brewery that’s recreating a beer salvaged from a 200 year old shipwreck. Dogfish Head has been doing that kind of thing with much, much older historical brews – the Ancient Ales Series. Magnús Ver Magnússon moving an entire brewery. Her idea of Dress Down Goose Day duds. What would Björk drink. In other words, what tremendously stupid cra...

Craft Beer, Tangents, Rules, and Rants. April 1, 2014. Dock Street Walker – A Beer Not Reviewed (leaving that to the real Walking Dead). Beer Chat | Musings about beer and the places that serve it.

Musings about beer and the places that serve it. Brooklyn Cookie Jar Porter. On March 3, 2010 by jlallen. Esterday Beer Run tapped a keg of Brooklyn’s Cookie Jar Porter. I was intrigued enough to stop by last night to try it out and I am glad I did. When it came to the table it was a very dark brown in color with very little head. As soon as I smelled the porter I got a very strong brown sugar aroma. You also smell a bit of spice. On March 1, 2010 by jlallen. In the glass it has a beautiful dark ruby col...
