Tuesday, April 29, 2014. What a shock. Rupert is dead. the cantankerous old Muscovy duck passed away yesterday. I found him on my way to the barn last night when doing chores. His girl friend might be relieved - Tuffy was hounded by him relentlessly. His daughter, Stubby, was actually being hounded by him as well. Maybe they conspired together and did in Rupert? Thursday, May 24, 2012. May 2012 Update - Lots of Prepping! Life moves too fast! Rachel is off to Borden next week. The kids and I will miss her terribly. Me and the kids were swimming at Crowe River on the May long weekend. I even dove in. It was Sunday May 20 the earliest I have ever been in swimming. Rachel was at a course - Igatsu. She took a spinning course two weekends before that. Busy! Updates from the farm. Solar panels were in place on May 14. Not hooked up yet. Corn went in along with potatoes...

Bee Stoic: The bees runneth over

Sunday, October 12, 2014. The bees runneth over. Well - we have completed a successful season. Our raw honey has been hand extracted, cold filtered and stored. It was a great season for forage. The wet summer was a boon to a steady flow of nectar. It did not all come at once but that was ok. I still need to visit the hives more often as they split on me! Hopefully the others have started a successful colony elsewhere and are actively preparing for the winter. Remember . winter is. As always bee stoic.
