Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Camping in the City. And by "trying" I mean I built a fire the other night. In, like, 80 degree weather that feels like 90. But the kids and I were all into it, so I thought I could score some Nature Points. Millie made a dumb bell out of a wood kabab thingy and marshmellows. Fischer and his bff Finn helped me build the tee pee fire. Shepherd was asleep cause that's what he does best after 7pm. God it was hot. No I'll take Ed and the kids over mopped floors. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Okay, that title was weird. But I typed that before I really thought about typing that. Guess that makes me southern, even though it's been established that I don't have a southern accent. Very garlicky and very tahini-y. Loved it! Here's my tracker for today:. Spelt Flakes with skim. Power Plate" from Starbucks (mini whole wheat bagel, peanut butter, hard boiled egg, two slices of cheese, grapes and apple slices). Oat bran muffin (homemade). Small square of dark chocolate.

Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Overnight Oats: It's all the rage. So I like oatmeal. But only steel cut. Not because it's nutritionally superior (case that's a myth). I just like the texture. The rolled oats taste chewier than I like. I like the nutty texture of steel cut. But steel cut takes foooooooorevvvver to cook. Friday, May 28, 2010. Hitting Walls and Moving Forward. Yesterday at 2:30 I hit a wall. You know that wall where you know you can't take a nap because your kids need a suitable parental figure to keep them from killing themselves (and believe me, they will) but you're so tired you hit a wall and want to curl up in a fetal position and enter a drug induced coma? Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Is your diet your religion? And he described to me what the primal lifestyle is. Turns out this new, extreme, cutting edge (but eating like our ancestors) diet is pretty much avoiding processed foods and doing interval training. Huh. Okay. I think I do that. So here's the thing: why do we need extreme dieting? Of course living the primal lifestyle is great- I'm not knocking it at all. But, why do we need labels? Why can't we just eat well, indulge here and there and be merry?
