Learning that I had cancer may be the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. I got the strong impression that I should feel very, very sorry for her, and that she was very brave to be at a party when she must be feeling very ill, though she looked as if she was enjoying herself. Some time later (months? I was not surprised to hear that she had died. Chemo starts next week.

There are people (including myself) who would like me to stay alive for a while yet. The cancer I have is fairly common and not as lethal as some, and it was caught early. My best chance of staying alive is to follow those. No need for new or exotic treatment. Chemotherapy (going on now until about mid-June).
