Behçet's Syndrome Centres of Excellence. The Behcets Syndrome Centres of Excellence were set up in three NHS Trusts in Birmingham, Liverpool and London in April 2012 to provide care for patients with Behcet’s syndrome. The Behcets Centres of Excellence offer care in the form of multi-disciplinary clinics and help patients to access high cost drugs. They are funded by the NHS after a successful bid by the Clinical Leads of each Centre of Excellence and the Behcets Syndrome Society.

Behçet's Syndrome Centres of Excellence. The Birmingham Centre of Excellence is situated in the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, part of Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust. Our clinical lead is Dr Deva Situnayake. Clinics consist of dedicated consultants from ophthalmology, rheumatology and oral medicine, as well as a psychologist and a lead nurse.
